Bye Hillary ! The Real Race Begins

The Democratic convention will be interesting because the two states with primaries left don't have enough delegates to give Barack Obama the 47 needed to seize the nomination outright. Obama will win the Democratic nomination, his former preacher will "God Damn America" and John McCain will be the next President. That is the Law of Politics bet at this point in the election. Things are going to get ugly in the coming months between Obama and McCain, and there is no telling what other ghosts may come back to haunt them.

Looking at how the candidates have voted in the past is the best way to judge how they will vote in the future, in my personal opinion. On the Issues is a good source of information for individual candidate facts. On the issues has information about Foreign Policy, Economy, Abortion, Education, Energy and Oil, and more pertaining to the presidential candidates. The site seems to be a little slow on updating new issues, but overall has a vast amount of political information on many different candidates. I did not include Hillary's stats because in my opinion she is already out of the race. Hillary Clinton claims to have the popular vote lead after Puerto Rico, but as we found out in recent years, delegates are all that really matter.

John McCain's Voting Record:
  • Ban on same-sex marriage is unRepublican; leave it to states. (Nov 2006)
  • Voted YES on recommending Constitutional ban on flag desecration. (Jun 2006)
  • Voted NO on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. (Jun 2006)
  • Voted NO on adding sexual orientation to definition of hate crimes. (Jun 2002)
  • Voted YES on loosening restrictions on cell phone wiretapping. (Oct 2001)
  • Voted NO on expanding hate crimes to include sexual orientation. (Jun 2000)
  • Voted YES on setting aside 10% of highway funds for minorities & women. (Mar 1998)
  • Voted NO on ending special funding for minority & women-owned business. (Oct 1997)
  • Voted YES on prohibiting same-sex marriage. (Sep 1996)
  • Voted NO on prohibiting job discrimination by sexual orientation. (Sep 1996)
  • Voted YES on Amendment to prohibit flag burning. (Dec 1995)
  • Voted YES on banning affirmative action hiring with federal funds. (Jul 1995)
  • Supports anti-flag desecration amendment. (Mar 2001)
  • Require 90 day delay for compliance before ADA lawsuits. (May 2002)
  • Limit interstate class-action lawsuits to federal courts . (May 2002)
  • Rated 0% by the ACLU, indicating an anti-civil rights voting record. (Dec 2002)
  • Rated 33% by the HRC, indicating a mixed record on gay rights. (Dec 2006)
  • Rated 7% by the NAACP, indicating an anti-affirmative-action stance. (Dec 2006)

Barack Obama's Voting Record:

  • Strengthen the Americans with Disabilities Act. (Aug 2007)
  • Voted NO on recommending Constitutional ban on flag desecration. (Jun 2006)
  • Voted NO on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. (Jun 2006)
  • Ending racial profiling is part of fight for justice. (Jan 2001)
  • Sponsored bill for special-needs evacuation plans. (Sep 2005)
  • Sponsored bill for a Rosa Parks commemorative postage stamp. (Dec 2005)
  • Rated 89% by the HRC, indicating a pro-gay-rights stance. (Dec 2006)
  • Rated 100% by the NAACP, indicating a pro-affirmative-action stance. (Dec 2006)
  • Provide benefits to domestic partners of Federal employees. (Dec 2007)
  • Re-introduce the Equal Rights Amendment. (Mar 2007)

McCain's Vice President & "Glenn Becks Opinions"

Who will McCain's running mate be? Beck seems to think it will be Romney. I do not know who it should be, but I wish it was Rudy G. Giuliani is not going to be the pick so I really don't know who else I personally want to take the VP spot. Condoleezza Rice seems like a good choice, but she is to involved with the Bush administration and I think people will see that more then the positives. General Petraeus would be awesome, but I think he is kinda busy with a war.

Anyone want to buy the domain vprudy.com ? I bought it after Florida, because he was my first choice for President and VP. I am kinda joking, but if you want it tell me.

McCain , Obama , Hillary ...... on WWE ?

John McCain's response to Obama and Hillary's wrestling campaign. There was some sort of Obama vs. Clinton skit put on by the WWE (wrestling) in Greenville, SC which is where this all started. I think this was a clean and interesting way for the candidates to compete. The video is cheesy, but I liked it and think he and the democratic hopefuls did a good job.

McCain voicing his disapproval of the attack ad that aired in NC, Senator John McCain said on April 23, 2008 that the ad in NC "crosses the line of negative campaigning" and is "not representative of the type of campaign he wants to run in NC or the country."

Hillary Clinton speaking on CNN. The video has been edited, but I do not know to what extent. It's a pretty good rip on Obama, but she probably lost some party support with her little endorsement of McCain. I think its funny personally. Everyone can agree this has been an interesting election and looks to be different then any other before.

McCain: Support our Troops and their Mission

I am including some pictures in hopes that some people who have forgotten then recent past will remember why! This same strategy has been worn out by supporters of the war, but do you remember what happened last time U.S. soil was attacked (one of the fifty states, not an embassy)? I think we handle it a little better this time, you know precision guided nuke free weapons. I know that Iraq was not directly involved in 9/11, but they could be involved in 9/11/09 if we give up now. Compare this war with the past wars we have been involved in; compare the numbers, reasons for going, and think about the possible future of the Iraq people compared to the Saddam era. Things have been handled wrong, and that is slowly changing. Leaving Iraq in shambles and with only a half ready government structure will only give the next tyrant an open invitation. Whether we should have "started the war" or not is no longer an issues because that is history, but shouldn't we at least finish it the right way. If you think it will be better for either side for the United States to pack up and leave tomorrow please tell me why.

The following is part of an email/article from John McCain.

......At the beginning of last year, we were engaged in a great debate about what to do in Iraq. Four years of mismanaged war had brought us almost to the point of no return. Sectarian violence in Iraq was spiraling out of control, life had become a struggle for survival, and a full-scale civil war seemed almost unavoidable. Al Qaeda in Iraq was on the offensive and entire Iraqi provinces were under the control of extremists.

However, rather than retreat from Iraq and face the terrible consequences that would ensue, we chose to change strategies and turn things around. I was proud to be an outspoken advocate for this change in strategy and endured much criticism from members of both parties. As I've said time and time again, I'd rather lose a campaign than lose a war.

Never despair," Winston Churchill once said. And we did not despair. We were tested, and we rose to the challenge. Some political leaders close their eyes to the progress that the surge has made possible, and want only to argue about the past. The question for the next president is not about the past, but about the future and how to secure it.

........The American people deserve the truth from their leaders. Doing the right thing in the heat of a political campaign is not always the easiest thing. But when 4,000 Americans have given their lives so that America does not suffer the worst consequences of our failure in Iraq, it is a necessary thing. In such a grave matter, we must put the nation's interests before our own ambitions....

Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama vs. John McCain

One cannot help but be fascinated by this year's presidential election no matter what side you sit on Republican or Democrat. Whatever the outcome in November, a sitting U.S. Senator will be our next President. We could have a former First Lady, an African American or a former POW as our President. Each candidate in his or her own way will be making history. And the important thing about that history making precedent, it's the American people who get to make the final decision.

So, we may all become a little battle weary about presidential politics and what seems like the endless campaigning by the presidential candidates, but I suspect we wouldn't want it any other way. I guess we all need to stay tuned to see which one of them emerges as the candidate to take on John McCain.

McCain has ‘work to do’ with gun owners: NRA

If Sen. John McCain expects the support of gun owners in this year’s presidential race, the Arizona Republican must make an effort to overcome some decisions the National Rifle Association (NRA) has found troubling.“John McCain still has some work to do to give them a comfort level,” Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA, said during an interview with The Hill. “Truth be told, he’s not there yet.”Cox said McCain and the anti-gun control group have endured some “high-profile disagreements” in the last several years that have left many gun owners concerned about his candidacy.

Race for the White House

I think with the parties candidates becoming more clear, if not already decided, voters should turn their attention to what each candidate stands for. If you watch mainstream news you probably do not know much about either parties candidates except Obama is a good speaker and comes across as young, new, and different. John McCain may be seen as a continuation of the Bush administration by some and not conservative enough by his party. I am going to include links to each of the candidates issues page on their websites, but I encourage everyone who intends to vote to research more then just what a candidates "self-told" web page claims. I can not tell you where to get your information without biases so just look at a bunch of different sources and draw your own opinions. McCain's issues page and website at www.johnmccain.com. Barack Obama issues page. and website. Don't be fooled by a good sales pitch and end up with a lemon. Look at what these guys have voted/done in the past, history is fact and a good indicator of the future.

The Primaries: A Race to the End

The Republican primaries have seen a clear front runner in John McCain for some time now, but with his delegate count it is all but set in stone he will be the parties candidate. He reached the 1191 delegate count needed to win on March 4th. The Republican party can sit back and watch the Democrats fight among themselves for now. The Democrats candidate is not as clear as I had previously predicted. Obama now has 1520 delegates to Hillary's 1424. To win the party they need a total 2,025 delegates. I think Obama is still the best bet to win, but Hillary is not going to make it easy. I am hoping Hillary pulls out a come from behind victory. I think John McCain can has a better chance against her. Obama is so popular among people my age (18-35) and has played the "change" card so well he will be tough to beat.

New York Times article on John Mccain

This is an attack by the Times on the last option the Republicans have, and it was released at a time to do the most damage to the party. They had the story in December, while other candidates were still in the race, but waited until now to release it in an attempt to tarnish the parties last chance. While I may not have supported John McCain in the beginning he is the best choice left. My opinion is the liberal media is just wanting another Bill Clinton so bad they are trying to put together similarities. Why else would the paper support him and then do this? Our political system has turned into a Brittney Spears joke and Americans need to start paying attention to more then the word change. What is Obama going to change? Has anyone looked at what he stands for, what he has done, and what will happen if he does what he has tried to do in the past? We do need change, but in the right direction. Hey for now feel lucky people want to come into this country and we have a border problem. Your next vote could fix our boarder problem and people, jobs, and your money will be on a one way ticket out of the country। Visit Glenn Becks website and see what he says about this.
